Back to the Blog!

It’s been a long time since I last wrote a blog and thought I’d finally make another post.

First of all I want to thank all of you who have been downloading and listening to the podcast: ‘Best in the World with Richard Parr’.

ROYAL RAMBLINGS

I'd originally planned to give my views on one of the WWE's biggest shows of the year, the Royal Rumble, on my podcast 'Best in the World with Richard Parr' but this week's interview with Darren Campbell covered so much I thought i'd jot down a few of my thoughts here.

New Year's Confidence

Happy New Year everybody! I hope you had a fantastic festive period. I was in England for my birthday and for Christmas, while I returned to Doha for New Year's Eve.

I've read a few books the last couple of weeks and one I'm really enjoying is 'Talk like TED' by Carmine Gallo. It deconstructs some of the thousands of TED Talks and helps the reader improve their presentations.

2015 HIGHLIGHTS

So 2015 is nearly over. I'm messaging you from my family home in England. It's been another very busy year.

Some highlights (in no particular order) include:

ELLEN HOOG: READY FOR RIO

On the latest episode of the 'Best in the World with Richard Parr' hockey player Ellen Hoog tells me the Netherlands team are looking good to defend their Olympic title next year at the Rio de Janeiro games.

The Netherlands have recently appointed Alyson Annan as their new coach and Ellen has called her "inspiring'. We'll see if Ellen can win a third Olympic gold next August.

CHESTER WILLIAMS: I'M READY TO COACH SPRINGBOKS

1995 Rugby World Cup winner Chester Williams tells the 'Best in the World with Richard Parr' podcast that he would be ready to coach the South African Rugby team, the Springboks, if called upon.

"It will always be an ambition. If it happens to come then it will be great."

"And if it, when it comes, I think I’m ready now because I’ve had 15 years of experience of coaching. I think the most important thing of coaching is management. The management of players. Because coaching is very easy, you understand the game. The requisites for being a coach on the field is so much easier than off the field."

Presenting on Al Jazeera

Great to be back presenting the sports news on Al Jazeera today. As usual we covered many different stories such as Baseball's World Series, Miami Heat's new NBA season, Manchester United's surprise defeat to Middlesbrough and a hole-in-one in Malaysia.

Still Top Of The League!

Just got back from my first Brighton and Hove Albion game of the season. Despite being based in Qatar, I've managed to attend quite a few Albion games over the last few years at 'The Amex'. After a poor season last year, this was far more enjoyable!

Allianz Arena Tour

This weekend I visited Bayern Munich's football stadium, the Allianz Arena. I was with nine friends as part of a stag party. Originally we had travelled to Germany to see a match but Bayern were playing away and 1860 Munich (the other tenants) had their game rearranged from Sunday to Monday.

Manny Pacquiao

Yesterday I interviewed the eight-division World Boxing champion Manny Pacquiao. I only found out at short notice and had just an hour to prepare for the half an hour sit down interview with the Filipino superstar. This was for Al Jazeera's premiere interview programme 'Talk to Al Jazeera'.

New Richard Parr Site

I thought it was about time to start a new website. So I'm giving this a go with squarespace. We'll see how I get on.
